Neptune/Saturn Conjunction in Aries - The Paradox of Doing Nothing

 Hello everyone,

Apologies for the radio silence over the last year. While writing a follow up blog post about the Uranus/Jupiter conjunction the end of last April, everything turned upside down and backwards. Both the laptop and desktop computers crashed, and then the computers at the library were hacked leaving the library closed for a few weeks. By the third obstacle, it had become clear that this was some sort of unseen intervention.

So let's start there - looking back over the year, to say that we have experienced some intense upheaval is an understatement. And its best to leave those subjects where they are. Even though many of us have strong feelings we want to express, the nature of the planets and their aspects suggest that the best course of action is to do nothing. It might feel counter-intuitive, but in essence, it is the key to everything. We must avoid bringing certain kinds of attention to ourselves at this time. But why?

First rule of thumb - the slowest planet wins. In this case, we are talking about Neptune. It's interesting, because the existence of Neptune was mathematically calculated before it was physically discovered.1 The behavior of the neighboring objects indicated that there was an influence from a larger, unseen body. Sure enough, when astronomers began looking in the area of this strange activity, they found Neptune. This is the planet in charge of the conjunction. We can impart the nature of Neptune's discovery onto its effects - it's difficult to see what it happening right now, and we really don't know who is pulling the strings.

Then there's our good friend Saturn. Saturn is known as one of the social planets - the dark companion to Jupiter. It sits on the threshold of the more distant generational planets, such as Neptune, and represents lessons in rules and restriction. It sounds bad, but boundaries can be useful, especially in times of difficulty. It can help mitigate circumstances from getting out of control. So in the case of this conjunction, mastery is available when we make the right sort of efforts. But what sort of efforts?

The conjunction occurs in the early degrees of Aries, which is ruled by the feisty, action oriented warrior planet known as Mars. This is where things get tricky. Aries is the first sign in the Zodiac, indicating beginnings, whereas Pisces, whose modern ruler is Neptune, pertains to endings. This is the alpha/omega point. Where twilight becomes dawn. Like waking up from a deep sleep. And it is this threshold that we as humans on this planet are navigating that will determine the next 20 years - at least. What we do now will stick. To complication matters, the current alignments have never been witnessed in recorded history. So let's see where we've been.

Last January, the North Node left Aries and ingressed into Pisces, where it will be for the next year and a half. Following this ingress, Venus came into conjunction with the North Node and then entered Aries. About a month later, Mercury also made a conjunction to the North Node, which was followed immediately by Venus stationing retrograde. Two weeks later, Mercury in Aries stationed retrograde. Then on March 30, Neptune entered Aries. This was followed by both retrograde planets moving back into Pisces.

Just last week, both retrograde Venus and Mercury made conjunctions to the North Node in Pisces for a second time, and then a few days ago, Mercury in Pisces stationed direct. Mercury will conjunct the North Node for its third and final time this weekend, while Venus will station direct amidst a Full Moon in Libra. Then Venus will make its final conjunction to the North Node the following weekend with Saturn finishing things off with its conjunction to the North Node before entering Aries at the end of May.

During this window, it is important to do nothing. If that seems too hard or doesn't make any sense, think of it as waking up in the morning. The impulse to act is strong right now, but we want to avoid just jumping right out of bed, throwing on some clothes, and heading out the door. Instead we want to ease into the new day. And can do this by turning our efforts inward. Like sitting and having a quiet cup of coffee and setting intentions for the day. In reality, that's really all that we can do. Nothing is as it seems right now. So how do we this in real time? Take a few moments every morning to sit and listen to your own self, rather than going straight to a device. Breathe.

Right now we have an enormous opportunity to heal our inner masculine selves - the parts of us that are driven to react emotionally, as the shadow energy of Mars is softened by the effects of Neptune. As we sit and observe ourselves, our efforts spread outward into the world and create change - this is the paradox of doing nothing. Once Venus goes direct and comes into contact with the North Node, our vision will become clearer, allowing us to set our course without too much fog. Then we will have a few weeks to dial in the finer details before Saturn enters Aries. If it seems like this is too much too soon, there is no need to worry, because we have a year to process before the Saturn seals the deal.
